Qt Lite Overview

12 January @ 5:00 pm CET

The amount of devices and things surrounding us are rapidly increasing, becoming more intelligent and requiring software that runs on a greater variety of hardware—everything from IoT devices with or without a screen, smart watches through to high end smart TVs and industrial grade PCs. As the requirements and the world of software development is changing so does Qt. We have taken action and are now unveiling the Qt Lite Project. This is a whole range of changes to Qt, allowing you to strip Qt down and bring in exactly what you need in order to create devices for more or less any platform and any thing – regardless of size.

Qt Lite is a new module in Qt and features a new configuration system enabling developers to define the content they need for modules in more detail without having to include unnecessary features.

The development workflow is also being enhanced to allow developers to start with a minimal deployable configuration that enables them to add features as they need them. In addition, the company is introducing 2D Software Rendered for Qt Quick, allowing developers to develop user interfaces for embedded devices without an Open GL requirement.

Join us to learn the highlights of the Qt Lite Project and gain an understanding on how this can help you use Qt for a wider range of use cases.

Lars Knoll, The Qt Company CTO and Qt Project Chief Maintainer

Nils Christian Roscher-Nielsen, Qt Product Manager, with responsibility for developing Qt Lite
